    my extraction fan has just died,anybody know if a bathroom extractor fan would do the same job?????

    not as good CFM but it HAS been done, lol... i used to use one... check out duct booster fans @home depot too.

    or a gable-mount fan (for attics) put one of those in the ceiling, and BAM! They can be had for under $50, you'll have to either modify or eliminate the temp controller if it has one, but they are big (15" and up) and I've used them in darkrooms for years.

    Fart fans will move air but won't push it into a high static pressure ie. through ducts or filters very well. They will move air out of your room and into an attic or other (well vented) airspace pretty well if no ducting is needed, though.

    Common fart fans usually have plain bronze bearings and are not intended for continuous running. For about 2x the price, the local hdwe will also have fart fans with ball bearing motors that will run continuously without grief.
