Did anyone store clones before in the fridge in a jar of water?

I heard a method,i can put the fresh cutings in a jar of water and after put them in the fridge. How is this exactly work? how big the jar has to be, and do they need light in the fridge, and how long they will survive?

I have way to many clones so i put what I need in cubes for the next grow how can I store all these extra clones right now they are in water under a flur.
