Organic soil Cabinet.
Sup all.
So here I am again with some more ideas for a cab. I wanted to swing it by all you experienced cabinet warriors for some yeys or neys.
Im lookin at two different cabs to use. The dimensions are as follows:
30" Cab (71 3/4" x 29 5/8" x 20 1/2")
24" Cab (71 3/4" x 24" x 15 1/4")
Aside from the slight dimension changes, the cabs are identical. Only other difference is that the 30" has two doors, and the 24" has one. I am leaning towards the 30" cab, but if I can get away with doing it in the 24" the bettah.
The veg chamber will be lit by 4 CFLs mounted at the top, possibly adding some flouro tubes vertically as side lighting. I almost just want to pack the top of the chamber with flouro tubes and leave it at that, without having to run more power for the other CFLs. Mind you both the veg and flower chamber will have mylar lining the walls.
Now when it comes to venting I am kind of in a bind. I am thinking about running a 6" inline fan which is rated at 250cfm, as an exhaust fan, leading straight to the scrubber. The carbon scrubber is the DIY one here on the forums. As for intake into the veg chamber, I was thinking about inserting some 1" pvc pipe into the floor of the cabinet to provide air from underneath. It keeps it stealth as that is a big part of why Im using a cabinet.
The flower chamber will be provided fresh air from another intake pvc pipe from the veg chamber. While the 6" exhaust fan is venting air out of the flower chamber, it also vents the veg one as well. on top of providing fresh air to both, at least in theory.
I intend to use a 250w or less HPS to light the flower chamber, and all the ballasts, and plugs will be in a utlility section of the cab. I am thinking about running the inline fan inside that section, so that it will also cool the utility chamber.
I would love to hear what you think about the cab. Any suggestions that can point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated as well. I m not going to get into other parts of the grow such as soil, nutrients, etc. Until I have the cab plans done and ready for construction. Then we can dive into that area.
Respect

Organic soil Cabinet.
actually, that's very weird; i'm doing almost EXACTLY the same thing
you seem to know what you're doing, so i wouldn't stress to much, just build, start growing, and then just change and ADAPT as things change and you figure better ways to do things; that's what i've been learning lately
have you thought about what strain y'all grow?
i'll tell ya what i'm thinking and maybe it'll help
i'm a med patient in socal and will get a bubba kush clone and perhaps a trainwreck clone
two cabs, one veg, one flower; perhaps even three: one mothers, one veg, one flower; it all depends on what i find on craigslist (that's my big advice if you want a cheap cab, check local used stuff, it's all good)
cfl's for veg at first, might use flouro tubes but i'll have cfl's so i'll use them
cabs will be locked securely in my garage with heavy padlocks, copies of my med certs inside the doors
passive intake, exhaust fans like what you described
250hps for flower cab ( i got one from insidesun; their customerservice is pretty shit, and i'm still waiting after months for a few pieces of my order, but the light looks ok
i have some ona blocks for odor, but odor is not a big issue in my garage, it's ok if it smells
and i could go on; i'm trying to get my dude to get me these clones; just ahve them onthe patio until the cabs are setup
peace

Good to hear someone thinks like me, lol. However a lot of the ideas are stuff I have picked up during my insane amount of research, its been about 8 months now. Nonetheless you have one advantage over me, you're a med patient and I am not. Im strictly doing this so I will have a plentiful supply of organic goodness, plus its like a hobby as well.
I have to be as stealthy as possible because this will be in an apartment. I do plan on locking the cab, and changing the locks on the closet door. It may be overkill, but thats my hard work in there, lol.
As for strains, I have picked a few. Im gonna start with bagseed that I can get from a buddy. Once I see that I can rely on the cab then I will start to order some more beans.
Im gonna try some Speed Queen for the daytime smoke. As well as some Durban Poison, White Widow, and maybe even some Northern Lights. i would really like to get some sativas and keep em short, since I hear that thats the cereboral high without as much of the drowzyness. I've also seen some really tempting strains from Mandala Seeds.
I've heard alot of growers using Trainwreck, as well as the Bubba Kush. I have not tried them, I dont think, since most people don't even know the strain name of the contents. That is what led me to this venture tho, just a love for the plant.
Keep me updated on your grow, as I would love to see how it goes.
Stay Fresh.

Lol. No doubt.
My old roomie had a plant goin for a while in his closet. It was the most pitiful excuse of a set-up, but it worked for one plant. Once he got her (We never found out, but we're optomistic about it) goin she got pretty big, but he ended up have to turn the lights out completely since our lease was about up.
Nonetheless he did get a good attempt. Plus it was kinda fun for us, he'd always have me check it out, and thats when I really started to get interested about the process. Lookin' back now, it was really in bad shape. He had minimal light, and she was so stretched. Once he added a 2' flouro tube had it start to bush up. Plus the feeding was all wack too. Good memory tho.
Sounds like you had a bettah first experience. So now you get to hone your skills.
Peace.

So this is how it will end. No one else wants to comment on the plans?
