UGH!! WISDOM TEETH. please read, i need some insight

OK well, i think my wisdom teeth are growing in. Atleast on the bottom left. Its buggin me, because i keep messing with it.

I'm worried because i dont wanna get my teeth pulled. Ive talked to some about getting teeth pulled and had mixed responses. So im asking you guys, how is it?

Im freaked out because 1. i hate needles, 2. i have never ever been put to sleep for surgery or anything like that, it being put to sleep freaks me out, and 3. the after affects(that ive heard) are buggin me out.

Being put to sleep, how is it? A friend of mine said that its so tight just passing out, but personally it freaks me out. The Thought that one min your there and the next your out....Do you just doze off and fall asleep?

Then how is it when you wake up? It freaks me out thinking about waking up out of nowhere, with a mouth full of pain.....

Im not sure if i even need them pulled, i feel like there is room in my mouth(im being optimistic) so i dont know. Im going to the see a dentist next week if the pain doesnt go away. So i have know idea, i mean my teeth dont hurt and the teeth are growing straight up and not at an angle. Its my gums irritating me, around where the tooth is.

    please help people, im worried

ya actually, im addicted to listerine and the oral B maximum strength. But the listerine makes my mouth feel so good, must be the alcohol.

hahaha funny that you started this thread i just had mine pulled 3 days ago, and YES they do give shots and YES they will need a knife to cutt you open but it doesn't hurt, only when hes trying to rip out your tooth with this huge utensil and then jabs you in the tongue with it... then they give you stitches and prescribe you shitty medication so your in pain for days having blood drip down your throat as you try and sleep, but you should be okay stay positive...

I've had just about every dental problem imaginable, and had another tooth pulled two weeks ago.

    One more dental horror story:
I read once, many years ago, about a dentist that gave a patient a shot of novacaine in the top part of his mouth, in the back, and hit the wrong area - it was injected into the base of his brain. He slipped into a coma and died. But don't worry, that sort of thing is rare

    ^^^^ Scary.

I just had mine done a month ago. I'm glad I didn't get anaesthesia - the whole procedure took maybe twenty minutes. It sounds nasty while it's going on, but in the end you'll be fine as long as you take a couple of T-3s before the sleeping wears off. It'll take about ten days to heal fully.

What you have just sounds like they're growing in. It's unpleasant, but it'll fade in a week or two probably.

Well it does suck. But dont put up with that shitty medication bullshit blazinit was talking about. ask what you will get befor and during the procedure, and what will you get a script for to take home. I had all four cut out at the same time. OUCH MY GOD IT HURT! Blacked both of my eyes i looked like a racoon. after two day's the pain started to ease up. You will be fine.

the last time i went to the dentist i was haveing probs with one of my wisdom teeth, the BUTCHER extracted all 4 of my wisdom teeth there and then, that was over 15 years ago and now i dont go anymore.i'm sure most dentists aren't like that, but this was a nhs dentist and i'm sure he did it just to make money as i went as an emergency out of hours.

be sure to take pain killers like Tylenol before you go,,,it helps with the needle... you need to see a couple dentists because some are just under the belief that wisdom teeth must go... if your not in pain and your mouth can except them then leave them would be my choice...

if you do want to go under it really is not bad at all... they make you count backwards and all you can remember is 99,98,90,9,,,then the next thing you know is your waking up in a room and all is done...

there is usually very little to no pain after it is done... Swishing some warm water and salt should help if your a bleeder or have soreness,,,but most peeps heal right up with initial preasure...

Make sure your dentist will prescribe pain killers like Vicodin or Percocet before he even touches you,,,this way if there is pain your covered...

cant swallow pills....but i know they have liquid percocet, my sis needed it when she had her tonsuls(sp?) removed. I think paain is from the tooth just growin, im hoping atleast because it really isnt the tooth that aches, its the gum area.

Also this happened to me to the right side of my mouth a couple months ago, but i cant remember if it felt the same. I remember it sucked like this time but i think im freakin out cause this is the second time, but who knows.

My dad never got his teeth removed until he was in his early 40s, and that because his teeth were aching, but i forgot if that was from his wisdom teeth or somthing else. I just hope i can live with this with out going, i mean the pain isnt THAT bad, i doesnt affect my eating, sleeping, smoking, or anything. It just is in the way, something little that bothers me. I keep fucking with it because,,,its just tempting but that also triggers pain so i need to dicipline myself on that tooo

i dunno lets hope things get better
