You will not get a new top bud growing where the old one was. What will happen is that the side shoots will start growing more. The top bud puts out a chemical (auxin?) that keeps the lower buds growing more slowly. When you picked the main bud, you stopped the production of the chemical. Now you have a "free-for-all" among your buds to be "top bud". However, because it is late in the grow, they may not get that much bigger, even with the topping. One is in almost full flower.... So I cut the top bud off, along with the leaves around it. Will the rest of the plant survive? I'm thinking of putting it into a 24 hours lighting period to help it regrow its newly lost top. Rating: 5
