Is Salvia really gonna' be illegal?

Correction, the lethal dose for Salvia has not yet been discovered. Remember that you CAN OD on marijuana, but the amounts needed are astronomical.

Yeah that Brett kid is going to be famous for the guy that started a huge drug war between the people and government. I can see it now: Govt. bans salvia and there is outcry in the 'drug' community. Then the amount of drug-busts will increase in every country. Marching protests, followed by riots, will follow. Govt. will decriminalize cannabis, but will make coca-cola illegal to buy, sell and possess because of rumours that the secret ingredient lowers sperm count and causes cancer. Coke will sue the world, then Jesus will come down from heaven and rape George Bush in the ass.

    BAH!
    Do they learn nothing?
I live in the UK, but I know about the prohibition period that the US went through - did that make the problem go away?

When will they open their eyes and realise that by making something illegal will only make it more attractive and/or drive it underground?

I get fed up with people telling us what we can and can't do with our own lives.
Their answer to any problem is always the same - ban it, make it illegal, etc
A bunch of assholes who can't even learn from their own mistakes.

Instead of addressing the real problems in society (ie, child abuse, gang culture, human traffiking, etc), they insist on looking into things which have little or no social impact (ie, cannabis use, speeding).

And then they wonder why they get no respect from the public!
All it does is show them up for the pillocks that they really are..cuh!

I sometimes wish that I could get all the 'powers that be' into a room, and give them a lecture about how misguided they are.

I had a debate with my parents once, about the introduction of drug testing in schools, and why I thought that it was the wrong approach.
The senario I gave, was this:
There is a straight A student in a school, who has never been in trouble with staff or pupils.
One day, this student was stopped by the people who administered a random drug test - the student showed positive for marijuana and speed (the level of detection is immaterial).
The student is now banned from school, and has to attend a rehabitation centre.
The student, previously a straight A, now has the 'shame' of school exclusion and is entered into the drug offenders register.

    What has been acheived?
The 'best case senario' is that this student will probably never get a job (because the records will show his exclusion from school - and why), and will therefore be a burden to society.
The 'worse case senario' could be a hell of alot different.

However, if that same student was a disruption to the school, then (and only then) the authorities would have a case to examine what the problem was.

My parents would argue that the student should be shown that his drug-taking was bad...but my counter would be that, as he was a straight A, non-disruptive person, what problem to society is he posing?

There are some drugs that need to destroyed on sight (heroin, for example), but when it comes to the majority of 'natural' drugs (ie, cannabis) which don't generally cause socio-schematic issues, then leave them the fuck alone!
All it does is penalise the majority of responsible users, and cause unneeded friction in the community.

And it's not just the 'drugs issue' that these idiots get wrong.
Look at education, social services, traffic control, policing, and the laws in general.

I sometimes wonder if being totally fucking thick, is a pre-requisite to being in the government!

    IDIOTS!!!

with whomever posted this article on the site, when they said that
outlawing Salvia is stupid because a kid killed himself. I have no pity for
Brett and what he did, they made him seem like someone he wasn't. He'd been smoking weed with for some time now, shrooms, etc, long before he started
    getting into salvia.

    "Dangerous Drugs" should be re-eveluated.

    What do you think ?
That's the kid from the FOX5 News Investigation! His parents are some bad parents, blaming salvia as a scapegoat instead of trying to help their son.

That's an excellent theory. Hell, that's a perfect theory, I'm declaring it an innevitable fact now!

Salvia is already banned in some states and it's in the works for many others... stock up now because it's going to be gone before we know it. The laws have a lot of loopholes though, you can still grow the plant but you can't ingest it. So basically you could grow it and still use it because salvia won't show up on a drug test and its effects are too short to get caught unless you do it right in front of a cop. Also, the active chemical Salvinorin isn't scheduled, so yea the laws are very sketchy. I'm going to stock up, i'll be back later!

I've read it's scheduled already here in Missouri. Go to hell, George W. Bush.

Cigarettes are nothing special anyway. They just give a light buzz and are addictive.
