no matter what system you build or purchase you still need to change the water and nutrients every 7-10 day's anyway.
If a drip system is to much for you why not try an ebb & flow system?

i lot of people say 2 change the water , but keep an eye on the ph and the water colour , just top up as needed , the the end of a grow just scrub every thing , lazy i know , i normaly change it a bout 3 to 6 times, that s a resivour system, never had a problem ,

The mfr of the nutes I use (Canna) recommends bi-weekly dumps and tank cleanouts with plain water top-up if needed and pH correction on top-up.
I've got 550L (145gal) of tanks to dump every 2 weeks. I use a flood system, so each tray has its own pump. I used a garden irrigation tee fitting and 2 irrigation valves on each tank to make dumping easier.
Just close valve #1, open valve #2 & hit the pumps- and as soon as I've had a coffee, tanks are drained and ready for cleaning & new sauce.

I have a 4 bucket recirculating waterfarm and I do similar to Al ^. I have a shut-off valve that leads to the buckets that I engage, swivel my drain level tube down and connect it to a Eco Plus 396 inline water pump, wait 10 minutes for the recirculating pump to clear the buckets into the res, then pump it all out in 3 minutes. Nice & simple.

I have a 3 bucket Deep Water Culture system. They are all self contained and have relatively small reservoirs so changing it is a snap. You can also move the plants around as necessary. Check out my thread http://boards.cannabis.com/grow-log/...wc-grow-2.html
