I can most directly relate my great great grandparents immigrating from ireland in the early 1900's...we had an 'o in our name then, so I would say primarily irish background, then like american after that I guess?

Actually though, Scots (via Newfoundland, then Nova Scotia, then New Bruinswick, then eventually Gloucester MA) and English on one side, the English being traced back to the Mayflower from at least 2 sides, and English and German on the other. Really that makes me nothing more than a good solid Yankee. Can I say 'Yankee' as nationality?
