Well everyones gonna wanna call it something different. It could mean its a triploid. Its not that strange but it is uncommon. I had a little triploid outside once... It got about 6 ft tall before my dad found it and killed it...

Triploid refers to a genetic condition where the plant has an extra set of chromasomes. Nor is it a polyploid which is a similar extra chromasomal mutation. (I have to leave for work soon, so I may have misspelled a few words- and I don't have time to correct it) Anyway- run a search and learn the difference!
What you have is whorled phyllotaxy - it just happens sometimes. The good news is that they produce more branches which = more buds. The bad news is that they are often males, for some reason. If it's a female of good quality, I'd clone it for the heck of it. - Granny:hippy:\"If the truth won\'t do, then something is wrong!\"

Fine its a whorled phyllotaxy.... But how do you know it doesn't have 3 sets of chromosomes? Did you count them? BTW my whorled phyllotaxy was female.

Nice training job on that girl.
I don't see 3 cotyledons on the seedling though.
Counting, lol... true polyploid seeds have an EXTREMELY low germ rate, like 1%, it's outrageous... in advanced somewhere there's a writeup on the experiments with chemically forcing polyploidy. The chances of getting one that survives are slim to none unless you are germing hundreds of seeds that have been treated with colchichine.

What makes a plant become a whorled phyllotaxy?

That's a good question! Why are some people born with an extra toe?
