    Halogen light question

I have been using a 150 watt 2430 lumens halogen light for my first grow. The plants are doing fine and are out in the sun for 3-4 hours a day. I live in so-cal so the sun/temp is great. They are under the light the rest of the time.
The plants are 1 week old and have the 2nd set of leaves growing.

My question is how long can I go with using this light? I only have 2 plants in the closet. Can the light be used for flowering?

    Thanks

    Halogen light question

Get rid of that halogen, too much of it's energy is heat, you would be better off with some floros or a HPS.

Thanks for the advice midlife. So the heat is not necessary for growth? only the light?

    Halogen light question

heat from Halogens is actually harmful to plants. Also the CRI rating is not suitable for growing plants. As Midlife said, floros or HPS are your best bet. ( Floros have blue spectrum good for veg and HPS is red spectrum good for flowering.) Optimal temperature is 77 or 78 for photosynthesis, and halogens get real hot fast.

Look at the kelvin temp of the lights, 5000-6500K good for veg growth.....2700-3300K good for flowering. It should be on the packaging if not cool lights=veg, warm lights=flowering (cool and warm refer to the color of the light output, not the actual temp)

    good luck to ya! :smokin:
