I quit toking as of 2 weeks ago and am commited to staying off the weed. I have nothing against smoking it of course, and I wish you all the best with happy toking, I just don't enjoy it anymore. Every time I get high I don't like the feeling at all, and I've taken 2 week and even 6 week breaks, but it's always the same lousy feeling when I toke again. It doesn't help for pain anymore, and for some reason even makes the Rating: 5

Hey man, good for you. I can respect your decision.I recently started smoking within the last three years and I must say I have learned alot about myself. I have learned to really appreciate life more, and my mind is much more "awake". I attribute smoking to have helped me deal with the loss of signifigant others, to the quitting of chewing tobacco (a habit I had for 6 years), and for the accomplishments I've achieved in the gym of getting ripped. I've noticed that I smoke alot more than I used too and I think I need to cut back some, it's just so damn hard for me cause I like it so much. <sigh>

I won't quit anytime soon, but I do need to cut back again. School was getting a little lazy last week and I puffed a few times before and at lunch with a few cool people from class, so I don't want to start doing that.

But fuck it, it's the weekend. :stoned:

    Hey Chowder

I hear what you're saying, smoking can make you put off doing things and well, it doesn't get you very far. That's what reward toking is for If ya do all your stuff then reward yourself with a toke for getting it done.. it can encourage you to keep going

    Cheers,
    Bob.

Everyone has to make thier own choices, and you should be proud of those choices! Im just a lifer and will be in my rocking chair with my bong sitting next to it whenim 80. Im about halfway there so its not that far off. Anyhow, its a way of life for me, Im not young anymore and have made my choices in life.

As for pain, I take morphine for my pain, lots of it, Im disabled, have had 9 surgeries and pot helps better then anything. I can take less morphine when I smoke and therefor I am more productive. The morphine puts me in bed daily, makes my mind wonder, I cant funtion at all, so I cant think of life without it. My doctor always asks how I can not take my full dose, I just say Im sleeping through my dose! I use to live in a medical pot state but now its hush hush, this needs changing. People need to relize that its the oldest medicine in the world and that it does help! Just like all meds dont work for everyone, pot wont be everyones cup of tea and they may not get any pain relief from it. For me, I wouldnt be here if it wasnt for pot!

Its this simple, the founding fathers left all the BS because of civil liberties and freedom, this is the problem today. I shouldnt have to worry, stittng at home, doing what I want to do, not bugging anyone, and at any moment I could be in jail for my actions! My god, do we all forget what this country is about? Leave me alone and I wont bother anyone! Thats why I live on my 160acre farm and I rarely leave it!

Anyhow, glad you overcame this, if thats what you feel is the best for you, Great! Anyone that cant understand that can go fly a kite! Its the ones that quit and then start knocking it, that makes me mad. How can you smoke for 5-10 years then turn around and tell others not too, BS! Glad to see you havent done any of that! Thanks, and good luck!

It's been 13 months since the last time I smoked and I haven't looked back. I'm the same way as you, I'm not against weed but it's just not for me anymore. It was fun back in 8th grade when it would make me laugh hysterically, but then it got to the point where I was just sitting there doing absolutely nothing and made me feel useless.

People experiment. They stay or they go.

I wouldn't go so far as to say its behind me, but my smoking habits have definately changed for the better... After a solid year of daily smoking I decided that smoking had lost all of its magic. I hated smoking to obtain a baseline as opposed to feeling fresh and inspired.

Now I'm enjoying large periods of being sober and the occasional (once or twice a month) smoking session.

Stay around Dev, you're still one of the best members this site has...

I don't see myself ever stopping.. but I'm not an everyday use it kind of gal. I usually will only smoke if the weather is beautiful outside so it can enhance my enjoyment for nature and life. I really do trip out bad when the weather is dark and gloomy. Its like I'm bonded with nature and in touch with it as cheesy as it may sound. But I remember when I used to smoke up everyday and I really started to feel the affects of it and realized it was time to cut down. And now I'll only smoke if I'm already is a positive mindset because weed really is an enhancing drug for me, its there to make things 100 times better than they already are.
