    Scientology - ultimate defamation thread

hmm... i've always wondered what scientology actually was...

~blinks~ i never thought i'd ever read about a group that made christians look like... well christians (as they're supposed to be, not the hypocrites most are)

a woman not allowed to make noise durring birth? obviously, THEY'VE never been in the pain, or in the delivery room.... shit, tell a birthing woman to shut up, you'll lose a testical, but atleast you'll already be at the hospital..

i think it is sad when any religion (which most from my understanding do) takes advantage of people.. whether you have to pay crazy money to have your auditing done (scientology) or you have to give 10% of your income to the church (christianity), etc.

i do believe in charity, but not in a forced or coaxed way. generosity is a noble trait, when it is sincere, not forced.

I'm sure people complained about the cult-like behavior of any major religion at its first conception. I wonder what people thought of the first group of people who said some guy turned water into wine, walked on water, and rose from the dead. Religions are just bigger cults with a bigger history.

That being said, Scientology is super scary. Look up some videos on youtube sometime...their methods are frightening.

P.S. If any Scientology lawyers are reading this - :stoned: That's what L. Ron Hubbard was doing when he made up your "religion".
    L. Ron Hubbard, according to his son, was actually taking very strong natural psychedelics when he invented Scientology. Before he came up with it, when he was a science fiction writer, he wrote that it was easier to make a million by starting your own religion than work for a quarter a word writing stories. He did exactly that.

I hate scientolgy because 4 yrs ago i was getting a tattoo and the guy was finishing off some other guys tattoo before mine so i went outside to phone my mate. Then this really attractive girl walks up and asks if i would mind answearing a few questions, i had about 20 mins so i said yeah. Anyway as i said this girl was very sexy and so ended up buying a book (dianetics).
I pop into the scientology place with her to pick it up. I get asked a ton of questions I answear them and think as im leaving what a bunch of fucking wierdos.

That was 4 yrs ago. Now every month i get a handwritten letter from the scientology mob telling me how fucked up my life is and how good it could be.
I dont know how they got my address but somehow they did.

    4 FUCKING YEARS!!!

I have to agree with the original thread post here. I recently watched a documentary called The Secret, and the way they put it, made it seem like you could have anything your heart desired, just as long as you thought about it, and imagined having it, day in, day out, and it would eventually come to you.

I came to realize that these followers, are trying to sell their beliefs, just like any other religion. Not with money, but with a media sense. All the stuff you see on TV and books, of course they are going to ham it up and make themselves look good. It's like trying to get a job by pulling the truth a bit too far by putting in things in your resume to "sell" your employment to them. It's all sales and marketing, and what they say shouldn't be taken with 100% belief.

Now me, I found this program not bad. A bit over the top, but it drove me to dive into Dianetics. Again, interesting stuff. I have chose to take bits and pieces of their theory called Law of Attraction, and which means in simple terms, you think or put out positivity, you get positivity back. Like Karma in a way too I guess...you get what you put out. You put out negativity, you get negativity back, and vise versa with positive thinking too.

That's about as much as I took in. I don't think about certain things I want so they come to me, but I strongly believe that if you work hard and stay positive, positive things will come, which you work hard for and pay off in the end.

They make it sound like it will come to you if you sit on your ass all day. No, it won't. It comes to you by you working hard to earn what you want, not JUST thinking about it.

So yeah, that's what I took from it. I try to think positive, and when something negative happens, instead of me getting mad about it, I think how that negativity came to me in the first place.

    Everything happens for a reason.
