Let me quote directly from my Biology textbook:

"Short-term use of marijuana does not seem to cause immediate physical damage to the body. However, the word 'seem' here is deceiving. For there is clear evidence that smoking marijuana is bad for the lungs, although the damaging effects may not be immediate. In fact, smoking marijuana is even more destructive to the lungs than smoking tobacco

"Long-term use of marijuana can result in loss of memory, inability to concentrate, and reduced levels of the hormone testosterone in males. Heavy users develop a psychological dependence (need) on the drug, which can make constructive behaviour--work, sports, study, and social activities--almost impossible."

It should be a crime to print blatant misinformation and junk science into a textbook and teach it to students. First of all, the shit about weed harming the lungs more than tobacco is sketchy; first because though it does contain tars, there has NEVER been a proven correlation between weed and lung cancer.

Many of us stoners here know that weed only increases the sharpness of our mind and our sense of touch with the heavens, the less-testerone claims are made-up bullshit, and that it is very easily possible to smoke A LOT of weed and still engage in constructive behaviour.

FUCK, I want to sue the publishers so badly.
