Horizontal Screen of Green? A solution for Sativa Lovers
I came up with a growing method for Sativa Lovers with a vertically challanged Grow space. I have never tried this with any Cannabis, but some of the techniques have been tried with other plants I have grown.
The problem with Sativas are that they grow too tall and too slow, now I can not change the time, but I can change the Verticle Space that a specific strain may require.
Start by taking your seedling and put it in your pot, you may have to create a cover or use a Clay Based Packing Soil on the top of your Soil Mix, and then you tip your pot over (you may want to create some watering plumbing to get water past your Clay or lid). Let the Plant find the light over head. With Some Sativas you can start right on 12/12. When the plant reaches the hieght that matches your Horizontal needs (4 feet for a 400watt HID), turn your pot upright. Be careful to support your plant when doing this. it will have to be staked down to a support table that is the hieght of your pot. Finish Flowering under a screen as your branches will chase the light.
Alot of pruning and light training will be needed when you are growing with a sideways pot, so that your branches grow in the direction that the open end of your pot faces. This will take both an overhead light and a supplemental side light (less Lumens than the overhead light) to train the branches to grow in what will later be a Vertical Direction.
This should cut your Verticle space needs in half, or maybe a quarter, never tried it, but I have grown plants in side pots before, and watering is tricky, and requires a basin to place your plants in to catch the many spills that will most likely happen.
If I ever grow indoor sativa, I will attempt this method and do a full report with pictures. If I grow an indica, i will just do sea of grea, but I may grow a spare plant in a pot sideways to see if I can train it to grow the way I would need for this project.
Who knows, maybe I thought up a technique that has already been tried.greentard Reviewed by greentard on . Horizontal Screen of Green?
