How many doctors are anti cannabis in reality?

None of us want to get busted and then all of a sudden HEY HOW ABOUT 20 YEARS IN THE JOINT NO NOT THAT ONE LOLZ, we are also pretty partial to, you know, having medical treatment, so we naturally assume that our doctors, being generally older white men as a stereotype, will basically taser us and have us dragged out if we mention anything remotely illegal.

However, being a doctor means you HAVE to attend a certain amount of conferences and such every year, to keep up with modern medicinal advances and techniques. To not do so is morally criminally negligent, they can get fired over that. Based upon that premise, I would posit that perhaps doctors are more open minded about the reefer then we may first imagine.

Doctors need a lot more education about cannabis and its benefits, and our country needs to do a lot more large-scale testing. The tests that are out there have been on a very small scale. In this country, they're used to prescribing medicines that have had a whole lot more research and clinical trials than cannabis has. It's been my experience with my med school professors and the doctors we know socially that a good portion of doctors know it has some benefits, but since testing isn't being done on it in this country, most of them feel they don't have anything very current or concrete to go on. Even in states where medical MJ is allowed, patients often still have to seek prescriptions from a tiny group of pro-cannabis docs instead of their regular physicians.

As far as continuing education goes, docs aren't learning about cannabis from classes and seminars since it's not a prescribable drug in the majority of places. They usually learn about the latest research in their fields of medicine, and for docs like surgeons and cardiologists and others who do procedures, they learn about the latest techniques. They can't get fired or found criminally negligent for not attending their required continuing education, but they can lose their licenses or have them refused for renewal.

My doctor was willing to listen, and even admitted to me that he used during his youth. BUT he is too afraid of the feds to give recommendations. I understand- we live in a rural community with "somewhat corrupt" cops. He has a lot to lose! I had to travel 75 miles to get my recommendation.

My cancer doctor didn't mind in the least! He didnt encourage it really but when we let it slip he didn't really say anything. It was more of a "ill look the other way' kinda thing.

Some psychiatric docs seem to be really against it. But my aunt has been a nurse for like 50 years and I discussed this topic with her the other day. She didn't know too much about medical cannabis, but she knows some of her doctor and nurse friends support it's use medically.

I have told several GP's that I smoke it regularly and that I think it is beneficial to me. None of them have encouraged me to stop, and some have suggested that they at least don't think it is a bad as all that. I know a doctor in a hospital who got fired because he was supplying smack users with things in exchange for weed. That's the NHS for you!

My Dr. was origionaly dead set against it .
And even being in a mmj city , untill he saw me quit 60 mg of oxycottin , 3200 mg of neurotin , and 10 mg ativan a day all cold turkey . Guess he's used to seeing ppl. all messed up and addicted to the above said nonsense and wanted to know exactly how I did it . I asked him why he thought my B/P was always off a touch when i'm in for aftercare LOL ?
I'm his first mmj recomendation .
I'm a 90% 3rd. degree burn survivor BTW , therefore the Xcrispi bit .

i work in an ER and this past semester i did a report on medical marijuana. i interviewed about half a dozen ER doc's and not a single one was against its use in proper cases. most thought it was actually silly that is wasn't legal for medicinal uses.

does the government care what the experts say? hmmmm... i will let you all decide
