Sometimes, I think what if the 60's movement had succeeded in its goal? I wonder what would the world be like now if they had?

I can't say for certain that things would be better (there are many factors to consider), but I do know that I would choose that path over this one we're on now.

Should we survive as a species, through this mess (without blowing ourselves up), we will look back on the times of today with heartfelt despair.

We have to do all we can to fight for what we believe in, or all hope may really be lost.

I often think about out that too, I tend to see the sixties as the start of a global paradigm change, initiated by the ensuing confusion that surrounded three major scientific discoveries in the 20th century, quantum theory, relativity and chaos theory.

There exists historical evidence to document phase shifts throughout society from materialistic value systems to more spiritually connected societies. In between it has been recorded that societies tend to go through periods of mass insanity, which is more or less what we are seeing to day. It is a normal progression in the evolution of society. The sixties heralded a shift from several hundred years of patriarchal rule inspired by the mechanics of Newton.

Sadly though, despite the hope I still cling to that the world may eventually overcome its fascintation with violence and addiction to materialistic values, its looking increasingly like this time we are sealing our fate. Perhaps we are on the cusp of a major shift in planetary consciousness never before experienced in the history of the earth though. All I care about is that I can smoke enough Jefferson Airplane to make sure my head is tuned into the clouds when it happens...
