So, can god create a rock so heavy even he cannot lift it? If he cannot, he's not omnipitant. If he can, the rock exceeds his power and he is therefor not omnipitant.
The problem here is that the question is not actually an existent, physical paradox. It exists in concept alone and has no real bearing on reality. If the rock is so heavy that god can't lift it, you're essentially asking if the rock could exert a power beyond infinity.
The answer is no, he cannot make the rock. Not because of a limitation in the power of god, but because of limitations in logic. Something can only be surpassed if it has a clearly defined limit that can be passed. If god's power is infinite, that means it ends nowhere. If it ends nowhere, the power that comes from the rock has no point to pass, to surpass god.
The other option of course, is if god chose to place limits on his own power after creating the rock.... or hot burrito as the case may be.

Question about God
There is no force that is all powerful. There are constant checks and balances. That's why I think the polytheistic gods made a little more sense than the monotheism of today. At least they could come up with two separate Gods: one that could heat a burrito up to impossible heat, and another to compliment it that could eat anything despite its heat.

He's an invisible giant in the sky. He flooded the Earth and put 2 of every animal on a boat, he started the human race from 2 people, and even though he's omniscient and master of all that exists.... he still gets very jealous. Oh, and he gets mad if you masturbate or poke somebody in the bum.
Not at all like those crazy mythologies about Zeus and Thor and the such.
Wait, in the interest of educating our less classy members... how does that all bear out for the matter of penis extensions?
No, but Chuck Norris can.
It's a discussion about God. What logic are you talking about?
True that, logic and god have nothing to do with each other really. But the original question is a logical paradox, and so I challenged it as such.
All hail the flying spagetti monster! May his noodly appendage touch your soul.

Question about God
[14] And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
[15] To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
[16] These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
[17] But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
[18] How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
[19] These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
[20] But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
[21] Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Time to go. The microwave is beeping. My burrito is HOT.

Question about God
the tough thing about contemplating these things is the fact that we are in a finite consciousness trying to contemplate an "infinte being."
according to christian belief, when god created man and the universe he did in fact place limits on himself and the system.
could he break his own rules? could he make a rock to heavy for himself to lift? that could only happen from a contridiction in his own mind, meaning that if he ever intended to lift the rock he would not have made it too heavy for himself to lift... the contridiction could never happen to an infinite mind.
(my opinion)
