Thats what confused me because I think that the structure of DXM is actually the opposite enatiomer of the one I posted, which means that it could not be converted to morphine and finally heroin. I am not into heroin but I think it is interesting. So the sturcture for DXM posted may be wrong. I was also reading about meth. And I guess you can get ethyl ether from staring fluid, I don't make meth. either its all theoretical, for the fun of chemistry. but the page said to wash the starting fuel with water. But I would probably wash it with a sodium chloride solution once, then with water three times and them distill at abou 30-32C. That would probably make it more suited to use as a solvent.
