Newly adjusted "Moving to Canada please help" thread
I posted a thread before, but I was high and didn't get at what I wanted to really know, so here goes:
I'm 21, currently unemployed, with an associates degree in science.
I live in Illinois, USA right now, but I want to eventually move up to Canada, specifically somewhere around Vancouver.
I want to live in a building where I can smoke as often and as much as I feel like without being bothered, and I guess that rules out apartments? I don't know the scoop, but I checked some listings, and they all had no-smoking (and no pets) graphic icons next to them.
So, I'd need a house? Well, if that's the case, I'd really only need a small-ass house. Just a 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom, 1-kitchen + a recreational room or two.
Does anybody know of a place like this, or a website I can use to search under this criteria?A Scanner Darkly Reviewed by A Scanner Darkly on . I've been researching BC religiously for a couple months now...I'm pretty sure I'm headed for Richmond. It's right next to Vancouver but is not as busy/populated/expensive. My bf and I are taking a trip up there this august to make sure it's cool. There are actually quite a few cities all around Vancouver, just do some research...I've got a ton of bookmarks, just pm me.
My bf and I are planning on moving summer 2008 from so cal. when you going?

there are alot of condos going up for 2010, so im keeping my fingers crossed the housing market crashes so i can get me some cheapass places to live permanently...
with that being said vancouvers gunna be a busy fucking city for the next 5 years
and i dont think you want to find a permanent place to live in richmond...when the big one (earthquake) hits, in so many words, richmond is fucked since its built on weak grounds....that and its 98% asian (asians are shitty fucking drivers)

True about the driving... hahaha.
Richmond is honestly not the best place to live for young people. I'm sure you can find similar prices somewhere else in Vancouver or even somewhere like Burnaby or North Van.
Richmond is too boring and flat... looks at least 25 percent uglier than the rest of Vancouver. It's like a whole different world in Richmond I swear.
