how beautiful and naive we were. with our long hair flowing in the breeze, passing out flowers and poetry; but don't forget that the same era that advocated free love and peace also spawned the weather underground and the black panthers. these were men and women who understood the paradox of peace through violence. they knew that sometimes the promised land could only be reached by passing through fields of blood. though i have always believed in nonviolent solutions, there comes a time when the defense of your way of life necessitates a call to arms.
