how beautiful and naive we were. with our long hair flowing in the breeze, passing out flowers and poetry; but don't forget that the same era that advocated free love and peace also spawned the weather underground and the black panthers. these were men and women who understood the paradox of peace through violence. they knew that sometimes the promised land could only be reached by passing through fields of blood. though i have always believed in nonviolent solutions, there comes a time when the defense of your way of life necessitates a call to arms.

the biggest problem is deciding who is friend and who is foe.

Hey man, I'm probably one of the biggest beatles fans around. I was in my heyday when the beatles were hot. I missed seeing them by one day in Mannheim germany in 63. But we've grown up and old, hell Paul is in his 60s, and still fighting against a woman for his money. With his loot, you'd think he could arrange a disappearance. I'm all for peace, but it is not to be had with these criminals running the country. The problem is the military, we have to get them on our side or it's over in no time. With the weapons they have, we could never win a revolution against the powers that be without a capitulation by the military. If we get them, we could go door to door with the addresses of the culprits (politicians and corporate big wigs, all bosses that ever gave you shit etc). Line them up and make them take 50,000 mikes of Acid, and then show them all the footage of carnage in Iraq, Burned body parts, human entrails, etc. Show them footage of starving people accross the globe, then kill their asses.~LOL~. May be a little extreme, but you get the picture, they have no compunctions about doing it to others.

the key to a successful revolution is popular support, not collaboration with the military. a military coup would only lead to a totalitarian regime (we're well on our way to that without their help) or a constant state of revolutionary emergency (i suppose we could mimic china's perpetual revolution, but our over industrialized society would soon tire of the need for such drastic measures). unluckily, our complacent population has lost the courage to endure even a moment of anarchy in the quest for a better way of government. even our poor are maintained in a state of sated poverty, just satisfied enough with their government handouts to want to avoid the possibility that the meager gravy train might be interrupted.

what of that other backbone of many a revolution, the nations students? i wouldn't expect great things from that quarter. here in the us, our academics have been fed a steady stream of senseless causes and illusory ecological disasters to neutralize their youthful zeal. on our campuses you are more likely to find placards crying out to feed the world or bemoaning the fate of the latest version of the spotted owl than to find anyone seriously contemplating the more immediate matter of the survival of the original american ideals. in this world of instant gratification, they seem to believe that the planet can be saved without a real base from which to perform such a miracle.

revolution is born of suffering and most americans don't even understand the concept. they won't allow themselves to see the dangers until that final moment when the last freedom has been erased. once the international concerns have demolished this country's sovereignty we will be as impotent as the individual members of the eu and, unlike our european cousins, we will be buried in a tide of poverty from the south. what is left will be the private domain of those smart enough to have hidden their wealth from the grasping claws of governmental greed and those to whom we have ceded our unique liberty.

i'm afraid that all that is left are minor instances of personal revolution. each of us denying the monster where and when we can. hoping to postpone the inevitable for our few remaining years and leaving the remainder to our heirs in the hope that they will be smart enough to do the same or lucky enough to find a more receptive audience.

Lets ask the real native americans about illegal immigration? You can't stop it even if you build a wall and guard it with troops. That would only lead to more prisonplanet stories about how we live in a police state. There here, get used to it, and avoid strange blankets.

....burglaries occur every day, let's just not bother to lock our doors. this seems to be what passes for a logical argument with those folks whose goal is the importing of low cost labor, the destruction of of our health care and educational institutions, and the general lowering of the standard of living for those citizens who actually work for a living. unlike the original inhabitants of this land, we have the power to stem this invasion. we have the power to learn from history, but we obviously don't have the smarts.

"low cost labor" or "high cost of living"? I believe we as Americans have had it a bit too good and now we are so accustomed to having "things", we'll work our asses off and build up personal debt. What you see as low cost labor is usually enough for them to get by in life and send some back home. But again if we don't get our bling-bling its always someone else's fault. We all have an elitist mentality in one way or another but we all can't have our large house on several acres of land with a Mercedes in the driveway while we are sitting by the pool sipping some Dom Pérignon. I believe those who employ illegals are much more responsible then the illegals themselves.

delusion i like your thoughts on revolution and your totally right our sociaty as a whole has become soft in so many ways that many people dont have the stomach for a revolution let alone the balls for one.Americans are more concerned about who is going to win american idol than whats going on around them. The government has got everyone wrapped around their finger that the thought of the people revolting probably makes them laugh. It just isnt going to happen and they know it.The government gives people just enough money so they can survive and maybe buy some beer on the weekend, while the real wealth is kept to themselves and there buddies.I for one already think America is a police state which makes it that much more harder to start a revolution, you guys imprison more people that the Soviet Union for gods sake.So the American government can get away with anything they want and if the people dont like it the only say you have is election time then the next batch of crooks can come in and take their share.
