RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) - Hamas militants have suspended a Palestinian television program featuring a Mickey Mouse-type character who preaches against the U.S. and Israel.

Palestinian Information Minister Mustafa Barghouti says the character represents a "mistaken approach" to the Palestinian struggle against Israeli occupation.

The character urges Palestinian children to fight Israel and work for global Islamic domination.

Barghouti says his ministry requested that the show, called "Tomorrow's Pioneers," be taken off Hamas-affiliated Al Aqsa TV so it can be "placed under review."

Children would often call the show and sing anthems about fighting Israel.

The program was opposed by the Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation, which is controlled by the Fatah movement of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Fatah

is a Hamas rival that shares power with the militants in the Palestinian government.
