Q About Hydroton Dust/Septic Tank
Anyone know if rinsing perhaps 20lb of hydroton down into your septic each month will cause a problem? Or even think it might? Or think it sounds like a stupid idea? I'll take any answer on this...

Q About Hydroton Dust/Septic Tank
Yeah I've thought of a new way to rinse this stuff out in the tub.....my biggest horror about it....rinsing it....my nutes go down the drain into the septic. Any reason why no nutes down the septic? Think I'd have less worries about that then hydroton dust clogging the leech lines but I'm just guessing.

Q About Hydroton Dust/Septic Tank
Nutes promote algae growth. Probably the algae chokes off the oxygen for the shit-eating bacteria that are necessary for a healthy septic tank.
But, if you are washing your laundry with chlorine bleach then you are killing a lot of the algae and bacteria.
You can buy stuff to add to your septic system that contains beneficial bacteria to keep it healthy.
I'm not sure what hydrotron dust is, but unless it is something that stays suspended indefinitely until it comes in contact with plastic or rock and then it hardens or clings to them, I wouldn't worry too much. It'll just add to the solids in your septic tank, which has a solids capacity of around 400 gallons.
