    stem cell research..your take?

whats your stance on stem cell research? did you know scientists can now synthesize their own line of stem cells? also did you know adults carry stem cells as opposed to infants? they are just degraded and not as productive as young ones.

they can also be found in the amniotic fluids of a mother or the umbilicle cord. i dunno...its just fascinating to me. stem cells could help in the race to find the cure for cancer. they are highly regenerative.

what angers me is that they are going to throw away embryos from in vitro clinics anyway. why not put them to good use?

^^ Exactly. It's absurd. Seems to me that letting that happen and letting the stem cell potential go to waste is the far less moral thing to do.

Stem cell research could bring us help for so many diseases: spinal cord injuries, diabetes, Parkinson's, arthiritis, stroke. The list goes on and on. We need that research to continue and be perfected.

i dunno what the fucking problem is...

it's not like we're growing embreyo's to disect and study... and the potential for it is outstanding... i mean, we're talking helping millions of people here, millions of people with diseases/problems that we've already spent years trying to find solutions to and can't....

anyone who is against it is a pure moron.... wtf is the reason for NOT doing it?

    I'm all for it.
And it makes me angry that stem cell research, like global climate change, has been turned into a political issue.

I don't know! Even though I claim to know about everything about. (That's just rhuemattoids)

I am sitting on the fence on this one, to the credit of my slight indifference. I really don't know a great deal about it but on the face of it it sounds good.

I'm against ALL vivisection, but from what I heard its about growing bits of animals, as opposed to taking bits off animals. That's no worse than stepping on a thistle. Right?

Anything that is saving lives has got to be right FACT i think the other side of the argument is ultimately to do with human cloning and those sort of sinister overtones which seem to be associated with this sort of thing ( remember dolly the sheep ) but for me personally i'm all for it

philosophers and ethics majors are always ragging on this because of the human cloning issue. It underminds us as humans if we try to clone humans..its takes away from our being so 'unique' and such a great evolutionary species.

but we arent trying to do that with stem cells, we are nowhere near that area of stem cell application. rumors of chimeras and mice with human ears growing on their backs are powered by conservative polititians and evangelist christians defending this 'holy paradigm' that scientists are playing god when in reality they are looking for theraputic methods of use for victims of disease and ailment.

we arent trying to create a monster. this needs to be known. we arent making clones to do our chores for us, were just trying to help.
