Hamburgers kill people too... from cholesterol build-up over time. That doesn't mean they are poison. Like anything else, alcohol is to be used responsibly. And like anything else, there are people who don't use it responsibly and face the consequences. I'm not saying weed is as dangerous as alcohol. I think we agree that it is ridiculous that alcohol is legal and weed isn't. Weed is by far less dangerous then alcohol.

However, what I'm saying is that I think weed (like hamburgers and alcohol) needs to be used and not abused. I would recommend staying the hell away from opium... the ease with which one gets extremely physically addicted to that drug is ridiculous.

My point is, I abused the drug "THC" or weed. I would smoke *a lot* of it before school and after school (right before I'd do my homework). And I wasn't smoking schwag either. When I'm somewhat high I can function okay or even very well. But when I'm "50 bong hits baked off my freakin' ass"... well, I'm baked off my ass. Its sort of like my life starts over every 20 seconds and I sort of forget the prior 20 seconds (for lack of a better way to describe it). Again, studies show that marijuana affects short-term memory.I can't even follow a movie plot when I'm baked for cryin' out load, much less a complex math algorithm in my high level computer science class.

I'm not saying smoking it is wrong, or even smoking it every day is wrong. And I'm not saying it is as dangerous as alcohol (it isn't). I'm saying people need to remember to use it, not abuse it... just like alcohol, hamburgers, or anything else. Hell... some people even abuse sleep!

I, for one, choose to use weed on a weekly or monthly basis so the high is more recreational versus just another everyday experience. This also ensures I don't abuse the drug ever again.

Nothing we say, or don't say, has any effect on legalization. I do not believe this statement to be true. And no, its not just "dude its jsut weed man whats your problem". cannabis is a medicine that truly transforms some peoples lives. The world isn't just about getting fucking high, do you understand? People have real health problems, which is alleviated by cannabis. Those health problems can and do turn your life into a shithole, no matter what you have or where you are. I am a medical marijuana patient, as is my fiance. I don't smoke to get stooooned duuuuude, I smoke for the medical benefits, mainly that it associates me with myself, so it is far easier to get to doing anything and getting it done.

It depends on what your definition of abuse is. Some people consider getting drunk from alcohol abuse, some, (including me), don't. Nothing wrong with getting a little drunk from time to time, but certainly if it is effecting your job, family, friends, etc. then I would consider it abuse.

I think people shouldn't have using marijuana (or any other drug/substance) on the top of their list of priorities, however if somebody only wants to smoke themself stoned everyday of their life I could care less, not my business.

But on a personal level, I think one's health should come first, work next, then love. As long as weed doesn't hold you down from keeping those priorities, I see no problem.

Bro... lots of things can kill you if you eat or drink too much of it. Water can kill you dead as a doornail if you drink too much if it. (I knew a kid who literally died of water poisoning in boot camp because he went overboard trying to stay hydrated and his brain basically burst).

Google it and you'll find countless studies by medical doctors *encouraging* people to drink a glass or two of wine (or even beer) a day. Alcohol is a tremendous blessing to people who use it responsibly to lessen their risk of heart attack. It has other benefits too. If it were "poisonous" in those moderate amounts, no doctor would recommend it. However many do.
