I'm sorry, and I hate to be a cunt. But I've been there, when I was 13-15. I've grown up a lot, but I still kept my style; you know what I'm saying?

I dressed like that, straight up for attention. I was a little goth/punk bitch and I loved to shock. You don't "just like band tshirts and metal"..there's more to it. I'm sorry again, I'm not trying to insult you or your daughter but I think it's incredibly immature. As an adult you need to give off a professional appearence most of the time, or people don't take you seriously. I'm not saying wear suits and heals but atleast put on a pair of new jeans with your torn up t-shirt.

I don't dress "preppy" or what ever. I wear what I feel like wearing and what looks good on me, but I've stopped wearing my lime green tutu and lip ring. I've stopped caking on the eyeliner and black eye shadow and I've stopped only listening to certian "goth/punk" bands. I've opened myself up to new styles and new genres of music and I think a lot of the goth/punk/emo kids need to do that.

Even as I got older, I still had pink hair BUT I dressed neatly and nicely so it wasn't a huge deal..more like "hey, does she have pink hair?" not "HAHA LOOK AT THAT STUPID PUNK" which I got as a younger teen. You CAN keep your individuality and still slide under the radar.

I hopefully don't sound like a c u next tuesday and I do feel bad for your daughter, and other kids, because I understand that they're being treated differently by being different but if it bothers them SO much, why don't they tone down a bit?

It's human nature to fear what you don't understand.
