no black lights are not the correct light spectrum for Growing. If you would like CFLs are a nice supplement to CFL's. Because Plants use blue and red light mainly for photosynthesis, CFL's blue spectrum is helpful for stem and root growth, this is very important during vegetive stage. Red light is good for flowering. Good luck and Jah bless
