question for those who believe in hell...

alright, from a traditional protestant christian perspective god made hell for satan and his followers.

let's look at it logically...

the reason for its creation was because sin cannot be in heaven, a place of perfection.

it is described as a place of torture by fire and brimstone.

my question is...what does god have to gain by torturing those who are already damned to eternal seperation???

i can understand a void that is absent of "god" but what good is the punishment on top of the seperation? once a person is in hell (traditionally speaking) there is no hope of redemption, so the torture cannot be for any redemptive purpose. the only other purpose that i could even imagine would be for some sedistic satisfaction by its creator. that doesn't sound like god to me...

i am especially interested in comments from people who hold a belief in hell...
