Psychos - Channel 4 (UK/1999)

Anyone remember this great off-beat drama that was on TV in the UK about ten years ago? It was based around two psychiatric nurses in a mental hopsital in Glasgow, Scotland. They ran a pilot series of 6 episodes, but sadly plans to carry on with a second series were scrapped following a bout of complaints around the way it portrayed people with schitzophrenia. At times it was outrageously funny, almost in a Royston Vasey, The League of Gentlemen kind of way, and other times frighteningly vivid. I think they received complaints about the way it portrayed the two nurses whom it suggested very strongly were harbouring symptoms of some form of psychosis themselves. Sadly this show was cancelled and never aired or released again in any form, despite receiving a great deal of critical acclaim.

Anyway, channel 4 have launched a new website 4OD (4 on demand) where they are broadcasting the previous weeks worth of shows via the internet, as well as a selection of old favourites. And I am going to write to them to try and get this fantastic first series broadcast again on there.

Yeah I forgot mention 4OD is only available in the UK and Ireland. In the meantime, if anyone knows where I can view this on the internet please let me know.

I just found out this is available on DVD. Can't wait to see this again.
