Where's my shit? Be careful in 5 Points and the Vista

I was in 5 Points a couple of weeks ago and someone got my laptop. If anyone knows where I can buy back my laptop that got stolen out of my car in 5 Points let me know. SOB didn't have to break both windows. I'm all about a man making a couple of extra bucks but damn why so much damage. Everybody be careful when you party in the Vista and 5 points cause shit will get gone from your car quick. Where's a cop when you need one:rastasmoke: . Really glad that I got a square cop to take the report for my insurance. He moved my grinder out of the way so he could look for fingerprints...LOL..... .

Hey moneillmills. Sorry to hear about your laptop. At least you didn't get mugged like a friend of ours did on Saluda last year when that mugging crew was running around. I live in the same area and I don't let my wife walk around after dark, even with the dog.

I've been reading some of your early posts and you were obviously struggling with the same issues that I am now - is it safe to post here, what can I say, how do I meet people who have the same "interests", etc. I'm an old married man who can only indulge when the wife is out of town (which she is now). We lived in the midwest for the past several years and, since we were within driving distance of my home, I had no problems. Now that we're here, I don't know anyone, and a 15 hour drive home isn't in the cards. Either is driving around sketchy neighborhoods - been there done that in my youth. Reading the posts on this board, it doesn't seem to be very easy in SC. Bummer. I would be interested in talking to you about Five Points and the Vista in whatever way you would be the most comfortable.

Im glad you know that I wasn't bullshitting about how bad it is in the 5 Points scene. There is hardly ever a weekend that goes by that someone isnt talking about getting robbed or something stolen. Just go into Sharky's or Group or any of the other bars and listen to the regulars. I hit the club scene about twice a month in the 5 points and twice or three times in the Vista because you dont usually get robbed in the Vista. Also be careful in Group with the bouncers. One of my friends is still going to the hospital because of blood on his brain from getting fucked up in Group when he got thrown out. He was drunk and high and was peeing in the trash can.
You are right about being skeptical about talking on the boards. Good thing is that I don't know of anyone getting busted on this sight or at least talking about it. But cops have computers too and I have too much to lose by not being careful about who I trust. Talking is not bad I guess. Meeting and sharing is risky. I am always willing to meet a new friend to hang out with. Maybe in time we can hang out and drink a few beers. Have you met anyone in the 5 Points area that I might know? I knew the Green Street boys pretty good but the Feds put the pains on them a while ago. I dont go there anymore. That was a sketchy neighborhood but I would go straight to the guys I knew and straight out with no problem. They were good about looking out for me. Keep in touch and nice to know there are cool people in my area with the same interests.

hey, i want to get in on the action too! only time i go to five points is when i need guitar strings or to get a nice cappucino at Adriana's. I feel horribly out of place on friday and saturday nights down in there.....too many college kids. Rockaway Athletic Club is more my speed. I agree about the "who do you trust" aspect of the message boards. I have too much to lose by being stupid, therefore i am paranoid! the best thing to do is arrange a "guys night out" for a few drinks and some "sizing up". i can't trust LEO as far as I can throw them......sneaky underhanded cowards, the whole lot of them. hiding behind a badge and a gun is the easy way out of society.

Hey I know Rockaways. That's on Rosewood. I didn't know that it was an Athletic Club. I thought it was a beer drinking club. It burned down a few years ago if it is the same one I'm thinking of. Mostly older people. Definitely not a college club when I was there. Haven't been in a few (3-5) years. Had some bad experiences there in the past and in the pool hall that was across the street some years back. I don't remember the name of the pool hall. It's gone now. There was a strip club up the street too. Had some good experiences there!!!!!!! It's gone now too. Think it was called Chippendolls. Damn city shut down all the strip clubs downtown. Got to go to the county to see naked women now. Know a few strippers from Platinum Plus. Mostly heroin addicts though. Be careful there too. The strippers will do the X tab slip on you if you're not careful. Had it happen once. Don't mind doing drugs but I do like to choose which ones I do and when I do them. Peace.

Damn moneillmills, you've been around in this town. I haven't been here long enough to have gotten around like that, nor am I likely too b/c my wife doesn't drink, smoke, etc. The only people I know in town so far are people from my job or my wife's job. Therein lies my problem. It sounds like everyone posting to this thread has too much to lose to take many chances - but you've taken a few in your time . I did my share, but I'm pretty boring these days. If you and Scooter are still hanging around this board in a few weeks when my wife goes out of town again, maybe we can meet and have a drink or something as he suggests.
