B. Because she has a brain. A lot of people find intelligent women very threatening.

C. Because she's educated. See reason B above and substitute the word "educated" for intelligent. Seriously, though. It's true. There is a large faction of people out there who prefer someone who's not all that smart, and especially who prefer a woman who isn't. Intelligent, educated women are uppity troublemakers who don't roll over as easily.

D. Because she comes with baggage in the shape of Bill.

The women and men I know personally admire Hillary a lot. And nearly all of us admire the fact that she stuck with Bill even after the Lewinsky scandal. We don't see it as her having stayed in there for the political ride, either. More than half the country would have backed her in a big way if she'd packed her bags and left, and she's smart and well-known enough that she could have still had her own political life separate from his. As a married woman, I have to think that the one thing that kept her hanging in there through that awful episode was the fact that she loved the guy and had a long history with him, which is admirable. I think love is the one make-or-break factor that keeps women hanging in with marriages when infidelity occurs.
