Rockwool Dampness

While using rockwool, I have noticed it will almost NEVER dry out, even if you let it sit in the sun for like a week. It stays SO wet. Is this supposed to be this way even when you have little seedlings and little plants who DONT need over watering? Do I just KEEP feeding them water, pumping it through the rock wool with my drip system? :\

wow rockwool has never been wet for me for a week .you cant over water rockwool cause it only holds so much water so keep it wet bro.

I know when cloning you need to sling the extra water out like a paint brush or clones will drowned. It will hold too much water if not careful. Just keep it moist.

Well, I guess once the roots grow steadily through the bottom of the cube, the roots wont always be exposed to water so its cool lol. Should GREEN up. :thumbsup:

you might be a little confused, your drip system shouldn't be on the seedlings at this stage before they get roots through the cubes. The only way you could do this would be to have a super slow drip, but most saturate the rockwool too quickly and will stunt your growth. Rockwool is made to wick up moisture almost as a reserve to where the roots are from the bottom up. Always water at the bottom, and dont plant until the roots are showing adequately out the sides. Seedlings and clones are not ready to be put in hydroton or soil until the roots are showing. It is better to underwater at this stage than to push it with the drip system, only because rockwool has amazing water retention abilities. When they are light weight they need to be watered. Judge by weight rather than by eye.
