Fort Dix murder plot foiled, 6 arrested
Surprise, surprise, another impractical Terror Plot in America. 6 untrained civilians attacking a Military base are going to accomplish what exactly? Perhaps I'm slightly jaded coming from a navy town with several bases, but first hand experience with base security tells me that a car full of questionable, armed individuals is going to arouse suspicion at the gate.
What I find amusing is the fact that this "plot" seems to have been solved by nothing more than rutine police work. Not by Data Mining our communications or illegal wiretaping sans FISA approval. Just tried, proven methods. The same methods we've been told won't work in this "Post 9/11 world"RamblerGambler Reviewed by RamblerGambler on . Fort Dix murder plot foiled, 6 arrested FORT DIX, N.J., May 8 (UPI) -- An FBI sting has resulted in the arrest of six Albanian men who were allegedly plotting a killing spree at the U.S. Army's Fort Dix in New Jersey. Sources who asked not to be identified told the Newark (N.J.) Star-Ledger the arrests were made Monday night in two locations as the suspects showed up to purchase AK-47 assault rifles. The report said an arms dealer agreed to cooperate in the sting that foiled a plot to kill as many soldiers as possible at the Rating: 5\"Some may never live, but the crazy never die.\" Hunter S. It is indeed very real, I don't think people realise just how much of a threat Islam is to the way of life we all enjoy.

To oversimplify this problem as a clash of cultures is not only misguided, its foolhardy. The problem rests with any sort of radical religious interpretation, and lucky us, thats who we have today.
Take a look at history Ambler, just a few hundered years ago you could easily replace Islam in you sentence with Catholicism. Or have we forgotten the crusades, the multiple bloody attempts at retaking the holy land and for what? Nothing. Then came the Inquisition, and those who were deemed blasphamers or those who did not match the accepted level of devotion to official church doctrine found themselves in the clutches of thoroughly pious tortures. For the love of god, The Catholic church fought scientific fact, and quite ruthlessly too. Do you suppose enemies of the church echoed your sentiment amberler, that this religion was "a threat to the life they enjoyed?"
This is one of the very reasons I moved away from organized religion. It seems common sense goes right out the window when these discussions pop up. Yes radical Islam is dangerous, just like radical Christianity and any other radial interpratation of anything. There's no difference between terrrorists of any religion. 72 virgins is just as idiotic as a Path To Heaven for bombing an abortion clinic.
And to conclude this overly long post, I find myself compeled to point out the massive difference between VT and Fort Dix. This would not be an unarmed populous, untrained and confused. These are TRAINED Military personel and they'll be "packing heat" as the expression goes. More worrisome is the idea that these untrained Jihadists could somehow overpower our well trained Military on U.S. soil. Has our once proud military fallen that low?

This bloodbath was stopped by ONE off-duty cop. You doubt our military could do better?\"Some may never live, but the crazy never die.\" Hunter S. Thompson

Duh. they were going to attack a "MILITARY" base in wartime. We should have let them go, those guards at the gate with M-16s, they have fully loaded magazines in them and are trained to look for any suspicious idiots that may pose a threat, and are fully trained in killing. it would have been Bye-Bye birdie for those guys, they may have got off a lucky shot, but their demise would have been swift and sure, no long drawn out court bullshit.

I have taken a look at history, Islam has had a lust for blood since it's very inception. Islam has spread through violence and fear for centuries. Yes the catholic church had a few ropey years, but it has moved on, Islam hasn't it is still using the same primitive doctrine and applying the same stone age laws to people today.

You're looking at this too narrow-mindely fish. Yeah, in terms of ultimate physical damge they probably wouldn't have gotten too far but...

-The damage (gain for them) would be more psychological than anything. "We'll attack your bases no matter where you are" Whether or not they were gunned down in the first few minutes they'd score a big victory for the bad guys in this regard. These crazy Albanians would be the best recruiting tool that radical Islam has ever seen. Well...after G. "Dubya" Bush that is
