We have to understant that OM is new to this and doesn't have a clue... if OM puts wires together and they are loose he could end up with a short...

OM go to any Walmart,Home Depot or Hardware store and ask for a

"Snap on Replacement plug for a lamp"

and just follow the directions on the package... the plug will only cost 1.50$ ,,,that is cheap for peace of mind...

if you do try to attach a plug from another extention cord or lamp MAKE SURE you twist the wires together tight and tape them so one bare wire can not touch the other,,,

show us a pic before you plug anything in!!!
maybe your right... it's hard to see what i'm looking at, but if it was what i thought i was looking at that plug thing wouldn't have worked.... but looking at it closer it just looks like a short unstripped plug wire, not a boot with probes (think spark plug wire, that's pretty much what i thought that thing was...)

ok like someone said cut the piece of wire off an old lamp with the wall connector to it and strip the ends of the wires a 1/4-1/3" and do the same on the fan's cord. what i would suggest is to give added protection against possible separating of the wires for some reason is going to a hobby store and getting some heat shrink (kind of a rubber tube thing that shrinks tight when heated with a flame (match/lighter)). separate the 2 wires just by pulling them apart or cutting down the middle of the cord and put 2 pieces of the heat shrink (one on each separate wire) on either the fan or plug wire. twist the chords for the fan and the plug together and then pull the heat shrink down over the bare wires. take a lighted match or lighter and heat the heat shrink and it'll shrink over the stripped wires and they will be just as if they were insulated from the factory (although it isn't quite as durable as the rubber insulation, so be a little careful with it). if you had a soldering iron or knew how to solder i would suggest doing that rather than twisting just to ensure you get an even better connection between the wires but twisting works just fine. hope you understand this orangeman

He can't figure out how to twist the wires together and you're trying to move him up to heat-shrink????

    ROFLMAO

Orange Dude - You got fucked because someone cut the power cord off that fan. (If that were a factory pigtail coming off the motor, the wire ends would be stripped and tinned.) You can do whatever you want, but why fuck around with something you know nothing about, thereby creating a safety hazard.

Several people have explained pretty darn clearly how to hook-up the wires but you just don't seem to get it. There's no shame in that. You originally did the right thing by ordering the fan with the cord. The merchant screwed up, not you, so get the merchant to fix the mistake.

LOL - OM - While I was typing this, Skink was posting that great step-by-step with pictures of his. I never meant to insinuate you are too stupid to understand those directions.

All of this is just pretend. But if I grew marijuana, it would be in strict compliance with California Law, SB420.
