What can I use to power an ac axial fan?!

Ok, I need something that I can use that doesn't have to be hooked up to a computer and can power an ac axial fan. I have an odor problem and I need to get something that works before it changes from fresh plant smell to skunky bud smell lol. I didn't know the right place to put this thread so I put it in the forum where most of the people look. I'm building a basic odor neutralizer that I seen on the forums and now all I need is something to power the fan and I can get it all set up and Rating: 5

Oh I found an ac charger that I think that works. Now I need to figure out how to hook the fan up to it.

DO NOT use that! The back says it gives out a 12V DC signal and the back of your fan says 118V AC.

Take the caps off the wires on your fan and twist them to the wires on that cord in the other post. Get some wire caps for each connection and then use electrical tape on each just to be safe.

If your really adventurous you can put a potentiometer inbetween your fan and power cord on one wire to give you an adjustable fan speed.

maybe this will be helpful maybe not:

ok like someone said cut the piece of wire off an old lamp with the wall connector to it and strip the ends of the wires a 1/4-1/3" and do the same on the fan's cord. what i would suggest is to give added protection against possible separating of the wires for some reason is going to a hobby store and getting some heat shrink (kind of a rubber tube thing that shrinks tight when heated with a flame (match/lighter)). separate the 2 wires just by pulling them apart or cutting down the middle of the cord and put 2 pieces of the heat shrink (one on each separate wire) on either the fan or plug wire. twist the chords for the fan and the plug together and then pull the heat shrink down over the bare wires. take a lighted match or lighter and heat the heat shrink and it'll shrink over the stripped wires and they will be just as if they were insulated from the factory (although it isn't quite as durable as the rubber insulation, so be a little careful with it). if you had a soldering iron or knew how to solder i would suggest doing that rather than twisting just to ensure you get an even better connection between the wires but twisting works just fine. hope you understand this orangeman :joinsmile:

that won't work for him, the fan doesn't have a power cord at all... just the probes to connect a cord to.

Slip your confusing him... He has got the wire in his hand,,,see his pic...

We have to understant that OM is new to this and doesn't have a clue... if OM puts wires together and they are loose he could end up with a short...


OM go to any Walmart,Home Depot or Hardware store and ask for a

"Snap on Replacement plug for a lamp"

and just follow the directions on the package... the plug will only cost 1.50$ ,,,that is cheap for peace of mind...

if you do try to attach a plug from another extention cord or lamp MAKE SURE you twist the wires together tight and tape them so one bare wire can not touch the other,,,

show us a pic before you plug anything in!!!

OK OM here is what everyone is saying that you should do... You need an old lamp or something to cut the plug off of... Just follow the pics,,,but it will be easier if you just buy a snap on replacement plug...
