Pocekts I will tell you my sad story. Many MANY years ago (one) I tried to grow outdoors. I built a super cool area that was covered with shadecloth.
I planted about 150 seeds. They all germinated. Unfortunately they were two inches down and never came up. WAY too deep. I found them when I emptied the pots out after 3 weeks of watering.

So repot 150 more (all bagseed btw...nothing expensive) and waited. NONE of them came up NONE. I found out later that the seeds I had (they were given to me) were about 5-10 years old and had not been kept airtight in any way.

SO I REPOTTED 150 more. I was lucky because I had gotten ahold of some GOOd bagseed.....some blueberry x afgahni and something called Blue Russian. About 100 germinated. Then there they sat. I waited more. They all grew to about 6 inches and stopped growing. Nice and green. Like 100 little bonsai plants. I did not think this was strange until I went to my friends house ( she planted at same time) and saw hers were 2 feet tall. I watered more; i watered less. They stayed exactly the same. Turned out I used back yard dirt (at my friend's suggestion) and the stuff was completely clay like. Once those little roots hit the end of the rapid rooters I had planted them in they couldn't get through the clay. That's why they were all the same size.

SO guess what.....no. I took the same plants and put them in bigger pots with quality soil. They started to grow nicely considering I was now in August (planted in June) and they were only now in decent soil. I felt pretty good (and tired)

Middle of August.....temps soar to 110 degrees...top day 113. I had fans on them. Extra shade cloth....etc etc.... 2 weeks of record breaking heat. That was pretty much the beginning of the end.

Meanwhile my friend who lives in about 5-10 degree cooler area was sitting outside all day with a fly swatter trying to keep off the hoardes of grasshoppers invading her crop.

At the very end I came with about 6 half assed females. I switched to hydro and first grow got 8-9 oz off five female plants.

I will never touch soil again......so help me God.
