I agree with you getting a firearm. I remember when I was last looking at hand guns they were about 500 + dollars. I think you can get them a lot cheaper at gun shows but have never rembered to go to the few I knew about... Also, make sure you know how to use it. Since your parents are against gus, I assume you don't have a lot of experience with them. Take a training course if you have to.

I also agree with slip to have your cell phone with you at all times. My cell is rarely in a different room than I am. That is mainly because I'm a paranoid person though.

Not sure what the laws are in your area. Make sure you don't end up in jail if you have to shoot him. Some areas in the States even say you can only use a weapon of equal or lesser quality in order to defend your home, I think. Basically, you can't shoot a man breaking into your house with a knife.
