    how did you quit tobacco?

i decided to quit recently, although my plan hasn't really fallen into action yet. i keep telling myself im not going to buy a pack, but then i end up bumming from my friends constantly and after a while i buy a pack to avoid being annoying.
im curious to see how others went about quitting and how long it took for their cravings to go away.

I went the Chantix and nic patch route and it has been 2 months since my last cig. You smoke for the first week on the Chantix, then switch to the patch for week 2 and maybe 3. In fact, I have more or less stopped taking the Chantix and the patch over the last 2 weeks and don't really think about smoking. It was always more of a psychological addiction for me. Once I stopped my automatics (starting the car, after meals) it was pretty easy.

I had tried the Wellbuterin/Zyban route twice and it had the exact opposite effect on me. Instead, of mellowing me out, it made me aggitated. A few people had success with it, but it wasn't for me.

Another thing to try is to replace your cig addiction with something positive. I quit for 8 years going cold turkey and then replacing smoking with lifting weights.

If you can last a week without a cheat, you can beat the addiction. Keep real busy and avoid triggers. Give Chantix a try if u can afford it. It is not a miracle pill, but it did take the edge off quiting for me.
\"You mean a career? Uh. I don\'t know. Ahem. I\'ve thought about this quite a bit, sir, and I would have to say, considering what\'s out there for me, I don\'t want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything. I don\'t want to sell anything bought or processed, buy anything sold or processed, or process anything bought, sold, or processed, or repair anything bought, sold, or processed, you know, as a career, I don\'t want to do that.
