A car stereo is ont the same thing; in Florida, once you go 15mph over the speed limit, your license is/can be revoked for 30days upon being ticketed; it is a common practice to keep joy riders off the streets.

she shouldn't have driven away. Thats like inviting asshole cops to spew their asshole bullshit all over you.
if she would have stayed calm I don't think it would have been as big a deal.

I heard about it when it first happened, but this is the first I heard of his punishment.
5 day's without pay isn't exactly enough for him abusing his power like that. Hopefully she sues.

It was both their faults. But since everyone now-a-days hates cops then of course people are gonna jump all over the pig.
Don't get me wrong though, I think he fucked up more. He basically forced her to be stupid and take off.
But because her father was having a heart-attack, does that give her the right to speed? No, definitely not. Understandable that she would, I would too, but I'd still expect repercussions, but if your dads having a heart attack a speeding ticket would be the last of your worries.
The cop could have handled it much better, like he had been trained to. He could have offered to mail her ticket, escort her to the hospital, etc.
I'd say he used excessive force though because the fucking woman was sobbing about her father, she wasn't a threat at all, she never threatened him and he slammed her against the car pretty easily.
Anyway, both are at fault, but I think since the cop's job is "to serve and protect" and he had been TRAINED to handle situations like this then it should be on his head.
Thats what they said on TV too.

Stay calm? Could you stay calm if your father was potentially dying at that very moment?

That cop yanked her out of her car, slammed her against her car, put cuffs on her, and said, "well now you won't see your father as you're getting arrested." That's like saying, "too bad if your father dies, what do I care?"
I would have told her to slow down and given her a warning in this situation. Some people have a heart, some don't.
