    What distance should 40 watt CFLs be from clones that just rooted?Ihave 6 40 watters CFLs in a space of 3 feet by 1.5 feet

    I had a batch of clones that just rooted and i had my lights 3-4 inches from them and i fried all the clones thats why i asked.

    Every plant, strain, light, is different, just keep moving the light closer and closer until you see bad effects and then back the lights off. There is no true distance to keep the light. Your environment may be more humid that others or your fan not taking the heat out of the air. Spend 1 afternoon and just get lower and lower, remember the lower you can get the better but like you rightly said you don't want to fry em.

    how many clones do you have for that much light? i keep it up to 8 plants per 150watts of cfl....you should have 10 - 20 watts per sq foot..i prefer fluoro for clones myself...i find it easier on them...the best way to find the right light for your clones is put your hand under the cuttings, if it is warm, it is too close....good luck....
