I believe there's some truth to this theory, and it's the DEA's fault. When I was in 8th grade I had a (at that time) friend who smoked weed. Of our whole group of friends he was the first one to ever smoke weed. I saw weed for the first time when I was with him. We were sitting in class and he showed me a nickel bag. At that time because of his young age it wasn't excepted by any of his peers and even though our group of friends still hung out with him his marijuana use wasn't excepted. He eventually got caught with the weed at school and was expelled. Then all the parents, teachers and everyone saw him as a bad kid and he got this idea in his head that all drugs were seen just as bad as each other drug so once he found out that reefer wasn't that bad he moved on to s*****s, then the next drug then the next drug and then the next drug because no one ever taught him the difference between all these drugs and he tought since he took one drug and lived they were all ok. Last I heard he was in bad condition, he had some heart problems (16 yo). Now I don't even know if he's still breathing.

It's unfortounate.

I know, and I'll probably never take any other drugs but I know better. I'm saying if some one had just taught him the difference instead of trying to keep him away from everything he might still be OK.

i find that extremely hard to believe... i haven't met many people who haven't dipped into some other drug at some point... just cuz you try it, doens't mean you're gonna start on a path of being a crack head... hell, i tried powder, and i'm honestly confused why people even pay for that shit...

weed opens a door to things we before hand would have never even thought of trying... it's only natural to want to experiment...

over all, my point is, just cuz you smoke weed doesn't mean you're gonna end up on a path of harder drugs and become a hardcore addict...

The "gateway" theory is not true, sorta retarded to me. We all are unique with different minds, we all think differently. Sadly he was one that didn't think too well. But I started a year earlier than him and I still haven't even considered all that other b.s. I despise crack, pharmaceutical drugs, cigarettes, meth, heroin and all that trash with a passion. I have considered shrooms, ecstasy, peyote and LSD but not anymore. Not that I see anything wrong with it but it's just not something I'm into anymore. Those things just don't appeal to me seriously it's just plain. With Cannabis there is so many varieties, so many strains to choose from all safe and mood lifting, mind healing so many different things it can do for you. I mean what more can you ask for. So that just shows that it depends on the person, that theory is just retarded.

it depends on how you look at this so called gateway....

is the gateway true? i believe so, is it like authorities and anti-weed people make it out to be? hell no...

but you can't deny weed is usually the first drug people try.. (aside from cigs or alcohol) and way more often then not, before someone's drug career is over they will have done more than weed... it's how you think of the word...

to me this gateway, is just an expansion fo the mind, and 100% normal.... it's only natural to want to experiement as i've said before... however, the govt. sees this gateway, as more of an on ramp.... they see it like you smoke weed, and eventually you'll move to harder drugs AND stay on those harder drugs.... which is far from true...

i don't disagree that weed definately opens a door to a whole new world, infact ot say otherwise imo seems more like defensive statement, just to go against what the govt. says... and dispell other myths...

this of course is all imo... i dunno how many share my view....

If you are the kind of person who is going to say yes to heroin, chances are, you aren't going to say no to weed. Weed is only a gateway drug in that it's the best drug to try first and is usually easily available. Openmindedness is the real gateway...
