    Hey Bf,
I have read the posts where you state "pot does not define who I am" I'm not sure I completely understand your meaning. Would you expand on that statement?
    Thanks:jointsmile:

Like, weed is an enhancement, and does not run your life.

i know some people that all they do is think about getting high, and will spend a whole day trying to get weed. I would hate to be that.

Enhancement. Yeah, that's about exactly how I think of cannabis. If you live a dull meaningless existence, smoking isn't going to help you do much else but not give a crap about your lack of a life... Becoming an interesting person with hobbies and friends and a job you like is far more important... once you have that going for you, weed is going to improve an ALREADY POSITIVE outlook.

I'll say. I'm sick of people sterotyping me as lazy, a junkie, delusional. I've even been called a drain on society by some idiots. You just can't tell these people, they have made up their minds. I'm like you BIllionfold, I use weed to enhance all the other interesthing things I do with my life, cooking, running, power yoga, its all part of my spiritual way of life.

I think this is a powerful message alot of smokers should know. I see alot of tokers play out a role that they think they have to play as a stoner.

I dont really like the term stoner, it insinuates that first and foremost about you you smoke herb, then you are a few other things

    I am not a stoner.
    I am a psychonaut.

    Let's think about this.
(from wiki: A number of common stereotypes about cannabis users have been popularized over time by hearsay and mass media. Stoner films, for example, tend to cast the user as a suburban teen or young adult slacker who is apathetic toward any aspect of life besides the pursuit of fun â?? and, often times, more cannabis. They may or may not identify themselves with other drug-related cultures and may even see use of other drugs, especially hard drugs, alcohol, and tobacco, as dangerous, addictive and/or morally wrong. Some cannabis smokers may identify with the hippie culture, Indie culture, Punk culture, Heavy Metal culture, the Rastafari movement, hip hop, or even country among others.

As the number of cannabis users in the west has increased over the past four decades the image of the marijuana smoker has become more familiar in developed societies, and less identified with young people. Where once cannabis users were associated with hippie culture (Woodstock, Grateful Dead, etc.) and Rastafarians, they are now increasingly regarded as typical individuals. This intersection between suburban life and drug culture has changed how many people view cannabis users.

Many believe that such typification of users is meaningless given the sheer diversity in the worldwide demographic of users, which spans different cultures, age, ethnicity, and social status. Some users, however, may identify with certain customs or ideologies surrounding the drug. Cannabis is also cited as an inspiration by many artists

Psychonaut: Psychonaut is a modern term used to describe one who uses trance technologies and, more specifically mind-altering substances, more for their ability to act as entheogens than for their inebriating (or social) effect. In effect, they are used as a means to achieve states of mind in which different perceptions, unhindered by everyday mental filters and processes, can arise. Psychonauts believe that when a mind-altering substance is used with this intent, its effects can be life altering and are not mere hallucinations. An alternate description is that while some aspects of the experience may be hallucinatory, the realizations caused by those hallucinations and the mental, emotional and long term impact of the experience are real, usually positive, and enduring.

The term is often associated with neoshamanic practices; however, many distinguish between the mental exploration of the psychonaut and authentic, healing-oriented shamanic practice.

    Brain function

Psychonautics can be considered an attempt to generate a user's manual for the human brain. Unlike psychology, which is concerned with understanding other people, psychonauts are more concerned with understanding themselves, and the process of self exploration; accordingly, they engage in direct exploration of themselves and their own thought processes.

As such, psychonauts seek to understand mental process and functioning and employ such knowledge in their activities. Key to this is auto-modification of brain wave frequencies, which can lead to quite distinct perceptual states; a detailed examination and understanding of one's own thought processes, habits, and beliefs is also sought. Hallucinatory states, drug-induced or otherwise, are seen as a form of subliminal symbolism or as a real but distinct reality; as with other processes of the mind, psychonauts seek to understand these. Psychological theories and concepts are also often taken into account, particularly those of Carl G. Jung and Abraham Maslow.

This is also ideally practically applied in bettering one's self through the knowledge of one's own thought processes; with this understanding and heightened perception of one's own internal dialogue, it is thought that one is more able to control their own ego, and detach themselves from what is seen as a herd mentality common to modern culture. ."
