Hey! Stop Cloning around !!!
ok I have a few clones. taken 7 days ago.
They are browning at the tips and turning yellow.
They are dying. I noticed NO root development.
They were dipped in rooting powder.
Placed in professional potting soil
The rooting powder was also sprinkled in the premade hole.
They were placed into peat pots and the peat pots were placed into ph 7.0 warm water and a fish tank air pump is placed into the water for extra oxygenation and they are under 24/0 CFL air temp is 80 F with 50% humidity.
NO nutes are being used on them as of yet except for superthrive.Gatekeeper777 Reviewed by Gatekeeper777 on . Hey! Stop Cloning around !!! ok I have a few clones. taken 7 days ago. Hey! Stop Cloning around !!!
That's not a method I would personally use.
One thing I am wondering... what's the temperature in the ROOT zone... I think it's more important than air temperature actually.
Plus the placing the pellets IN water... I don't know... yeah, I've seen the instructions to do it how you are but if I were you I would get them out of the water and concentrate on keeping the pellets moist and slightly warmer than air temperature, and the leaves misted (hint: I am now using a fungicide in my mist... just a precaution). A
Also, humidty=50% is not enough. Do you have a dome? Humidity approaching 100% is normal. Again, there are plenty of growers who will tell you no dome just anti-transpirant, but with something like wiltpruf, humidity oviously becomes almost moot... the rate of moisture loss is cut DRASTICALLY.
Hm

I will have to make a cloning closet.
2 liter clear pepsi bottles cut almost eniterly in half make excellant poor mans humidity dome when duct taped shut and cap placed back on for single plants.
REPS to you for stinky for yor promt reply.

Don't tape it back on, that way you can remove the cover for the necessary airing-out.

I'm w/ Stinky-
I think your media's too wet- I never had much luck mixing peat and standing water.
Are you getting callous tissue? A little bit of yellowing can be a good sign- That N's going somewhere.I assume you understand that we have options on your time,

Eh, the combination of low pH (from the peat), and excessive wetness... it's one of the worst sets of symptoms I have ever come across, after my misadventures with peat in the past... lol...

Ya might wanna try again. Couple thoughts-
You want the media moist, not wet.
Some like peat,some don't.
Media should drain well- toss in a little perlite if it won't.
Rootone is fine, but just the dip should do ya- there's a lot of IBA in there, and some copper sulfate IIR- I wouldn't bed the plant in it.
Seven days is not all that long- these could still make it.
I think you want your media a bit dryer, and your air a bit wetter.
You could also try 18/6 or 20/4- while I always seem to get the best results at 24/0, the actual data (gasp!) says that you should get quicker root development with a dark period. Not sure if it's actually related to photo or to the gentle swing in temp- I can't find a biochemical reason why the dark period should help, but I'm not gonna argue with actual data. U of Mich Dept. of Agronomy has a better sample set then I do- tho I'm working on it.
Play around with a bunch of scenarios- when you find the one that works for you, you have a winner. Worst case- you have way too many cuttings rooted, and have to select the most vigorous. Not a bad problem to have.I assume you understand that we have options on your time,
And we will ditch you in the harbour if we must-
But if it all works out nicely,
You\'ll get the bonus you deserve

You need DARKNESS...at least 4 hours a day...plants use darkness to develop roots...This is a must!
