Having computer troubles. Can anybody help?

My internet has been having problems the past week or two. When I first turn on my computer it works fine, but the longer it's on the slower the web pages load. Eventually they get slower and slower until I've been sitting there 10 minutes and only seeing bits and pieces of the pages load. Then when I restart my computer, it goes back to normal and degrades over time once again.
It seems to happen immediately if I start running bitcommet as well, but I can't imagine it's as simple as a resource allocation problem. My computer has an Asus 2.4 GHz dualcore processor, 1 Gig of RAM, 512MB videocard with 680MHz clockspeed, and 250mb of memory.

I know it's not a malware problem because I've checked thoroughly for it, and there's never been a piece of malware I couldn't find and remove. I've run CHKDSK /f and CHKDSK /r, and defragged, plus run everything on System mechanic.

    Does anybody have any ideas?

my only idea is it's the browser it's self, or some type of setting having to do with your browser (page filing index.. something like that...?)

I am using Internet Explorer 6 still. I had IE7 on my previous computer, but hated it because of all the problems. But then I found out my computer was on its death bed anyway, so it's impossible to say which was the browser and which was the computer. Is IE7 worth getting?

How are you connected to the internet?

i use it and have 0 problems... i actually wouldn't go back to 6 if you paid me.... the tab feature of 7 makes it worth the upgrade alone...

Bitcommet has a embedded Internet Explorer that could be causing problems. Try uninstalling it.

Anyway, I feel a bit silly now because I'm pretty sure IE6 is the problem. My mozilla still works fine with bitcomet going, just not the IE. I'm going to upgrade to IE7, I hear most of it's new features are copied from Mozilla anyway.

    Thanks all.

have you watched the task manager to see if you have a memory leak???

another thing you might want to check is how many instances of explorer.exe are running when you have your browser open...

Ditto. I only use IE for pages that refuse to allow Firefox. (why people would do that, I've no idea, but it does happen...)

Plus get rid of that pile of shit Bitcomet. Get utorrent or Azureus. Utorrent uses hardly any resources, it's a tiny download and you can get a 3rd party update that incorporates an ipfilter. That's if you don't already use an ipfilter. (and if you don't, why the fuck not?)
Everything I say is bullshit, including this.
