jazzman's first grow log - help appreciated ;)

    Hey peeps,

saw how helpful this community is, so decided to post

I'm probably gonna get bashed for this, but I wasn't very serious about this until now, was mostly for the fun of it.. but seeing them grow now I don't want to ruin anything T_T

This is indica/sativa strain (sensi seeds skunk #1), 20 days now from the day I first planted them. They have been outdoors all the time. Till now all they got was good amount of sun, fresh air and tap water.

I'm buying new pots tomorrow to move them before roots get entangled, I might be too late for 2 specific plants, I'll do my best (is it recommended to get the same soil i used for these ? or another brand wouldn't do any harm ?)

I'm thinking of moving them indoors very soon, because a friend of mine terrorized me, telling me i'm nuts to keep them outdoors.

    Any suggestions/comments/name calling/criticism all accepted!

    Cheers

P.S. Sorry if you can't tell much from the photos, they were taken from a mobile phone.

P.S. #2 They started to smell nice

hey man looking alright. They look a little overwatered--how often are you watering? you should be waiting until the soil is dry a couple inches down.

Also, start checking and adjusting the ph of the water you are using. aim for a ph of 6.5

for the next soil I recommend something that drains a little better, i.e. something with perlite. You may even want to add more , since you want your mix to be about 30-40% perlite for great drainage.

    Hey,

Thanks for feedback, I wasn't watering them a lot.. but the last few days we've had some rain, so that might be the reason

I though of using bottled water but then noticed that it's ph 8.. so now I gotta figure out a way to measure the ph of tap water.

Anyways, no more outdoors! Moved them inside now, so that each plant gets its own pot, and using 150w CFL light until I find something better. Pics below.

I really hope they survive the transplant shock... I think one of them is doomed coz it was too close to another and I heard some roots snap (worst sound ever)

    Comments welcome as always.

I noticed some spots on the two lower leaves of one of the plants. I browsed thru the forums and read a bit, but I still have no idea whether it's because of nute defficiency or bugs or tinfoil. Pics posted (1st and 2nd), does anyone have a clue ?

3rd pic is of another plant, notice the eastern leaf with some shreddage there :P Dont think its anything serious but just posting to be sure.

    Cheers!

Tinfoil, i used it and just found out today it creates hot spots that burn the leaves, so remove the tinfoil and if you want to use a reflective agent use mylar (still not sure where to get it), or just keep it in a room with flat white walls.

    Good luck man

The tinfoil reflects both heat and light, those spots could certainly be from nute solution spilled on them; I dont think that light you are using is powerful enough to make the tinfoil burn the leaves IMO, but tinfoil is a hazard electrically and is worth replacing with a cardboard box (top and bottom cut off) lined with mylar.
Other than that, keep an eye on that plant and keep up the good work!

Hey Tin nice looking baby's but get that tinfoil out of there asap it will create hotspots...Go to Walmart if u can and by an emergency blanket of mylar very inexpensive like 3 bucks.....If u like foilage feeding ur plants try to do it with the lights off that way the heats from the lights wont burn the leaves due to them having water on them....peace and goodluck:hippy:

    Tinfoil is history!

Replaced it with white cardboard, and looks so much better now I'll post pics tomorrow.

Also got a stronger lamp (45w cfl = 225W), replaced with old one... gonna work tomorrow on installing the old one too somehow.. don't laugh if you see pics with wires all over

They're almost a month old now and I've been reading up on LST, you think I should do it in my case ? Pots could be a bit small, but anything that guarantees more buds couldn't be bad

They're a month old now and as I'm growing from seed, I've read that the first signs of sex should show in 6 weeks from seed, so 2 weeks left now. After that, I should turn the lamps to 12/12 aye ?

Also read that during flowering stage a plant doubles or even triples in size, so in your opinion should I transplant to bigger pots ? Room might be an issue, so I was thinking of waiting until I know which ones are males so I can get them out of there for more space.

I would post some pics, but I can't! The image attachment window seems to be missing I've read another post of a user having the same problem and someone said that he must be registered with 50+ posts. That would be weird if that was the problem, because I've already attached 8 pics in this thread. Only thing I can think of is that my thread has been moved recently. Any clues ?
