Ok you got me on the war of 1812 but WW2 and Afghanistan... I don't think our system of government was really threatend during either of those wars.
I'm not trying to belittle the accomplishments of people in the service, especially the ones who were KIA, but to say those men and women died protecting my right to vote doesn't really sound truthful at all.
edit...also i retract my admission that you got me on the war of 1812. America declared that war on Britian because American 'war hawks' didn't like Britian's trade policies....also because they took some American sailors captive. Didn't have anything to do with freedom to vote.

The war of 1812........I don't think the English were concerned about any of our rights
WW2.....between Hitler and the Japanese empire you could have kissed your right to vote away.
Afghanistan.........the ultimate goal of these assclowns is to let Sharia law prevail. Kiss ALL your rights away.
There are many reasons why these people gave their lives for us and the right to vote is just one of them. Even if you vote for a party that you know doesn't have a rats ass chance of making it at least you exercised the right that alot of the world doesn't have.

I guess you could be incredibly broad and say that they died protecting our right to vote but there is still to much about our government's voting system I don't agree with. The electoral college for example... that is basically the governments way of saying the population, in general, is too stupid to really know who they want to vote for. Maybe if our president was decided by popular vote I would consider giving my input but until then or until a candidate comes along that I like (which probably won't happen), I dont think I will be voting.
