I don't agree...when a president wins the popular vote but looses the election because of electoral votes (like what happened in the 2000 elections) something is wrong. The person that was chosen by a majority of US citizens does not become president. It's like flushing the whole idea of democracy down the toilet

The entire population of the U.S. is roughly 300 mill.........the state of California has a population of over 38 mill.....I'd hate to think that this one state would equate to over 10% of the thought of the entire nation. There are MANY people that agree with very little that comes out of California.

As for the 2000 election........THANK GOD for the system we have!!

    Have a good one!:s4:

Thats because it really IS 10% of the thought of the nation. Whether other people agree with eachother or not between states I think each vote should count towards election of the president, not whether or not a state is blue or red.

You know, that would also put your largest cities view over that of the rural community. I'd REALLY hate to see L.A., New York, Dallas and Chicago as the leaders of the nation.........

Those cities are already leaders of the nation and because of the electoral college all those cities pretty much automatically vote democrat, except for Dallas. If the elections went by popular vote then every republican, democrat, and other party supporter would have an independant voice from the city they live in, instead of the same one every year.

I cant vote, but you guys should vote whenever you can and not just in presidential elections. You can make more of a diffrence by voting in local and state elections many people focus on who the president is and dont focus on whos actually running the country.
