i have (don't anymore) and i'll never do it again....

my dad, since he got me the job, felt it was ok to dump work on me that wasn't mine just because he was behind... of course i did it... but it pissed me straight the fuck off... if you wouldn't do it to some other worker, don't do that shit to me either... in tha tsame respect, i don't expect any favors in the work place, short of what you'd ask another worker to do...

I never did, but my 2 closest buds did, and it has it's ups and downs to say the least. One ended up getting fired by his own father (deservedly so), and the other quit so many times that I gave up counting. Things finally settled down when they reached their early 30's.

It is great to be able to know you will have a decent job with your parents, but you better be able to handle some criticism from those who love you. They certainly cannot show you any favoritism and will probably be tougher on you then a regular boss/co-worker.
\"You mean a career? Uh. I don\'t know. Ahem. I\'ve thought about this quite a bit, sir, and I would have to say, considering what\'s out there for me, I don\'t want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything. I don\'t want to sell anything bought or processed, buy anything sold or processed, or process anything bought, sold, or processed, or repair anything bought, sold, or processed, you know, as a career, I don\'t want to do that.

nah i just quit...i put radar/chartplotters and gps in yachts, made $12/hour- very good money for a 21 yr old but it just wasnt worth it...sometimes he tried to be boss, sometimes dad, sometimes buddy but if i ever did something against his word i was always his son- not employee...just pissed me off to the point i just walked off mid-job

I used to work in my dad's liquor store.
He cut me a good amount of slack, but I didn't slack off much.
I also got free drinks and snacks from the store and he would pay me straight cash each day (definite plus). The only bad thing was that he was paying me $5 an hour for a long time until i was legal to work.

not really going against his word, but giving constructive criticism and he thought i was calling him out in front of the whole shop

yea he gave me slack but i dont like getting slack...i pulled my weight but when i complained about others not pulling theirs on the way home he'd tell me to deal with it and be nice to everyone in the shop...then he'd give hours on my paycheck without telling me cuz he mustve felt bad or something...he has an excuse for everything

I do sometimes and I hate it. I mean, my dad, the things he makes me do are easy, but it's so boring. He's in construction so I'm with a bunch of guys and it's just awkward. I told him I don't want to work with him anymore.
