so many choices
I have been doing my research before I start a grow. The fact is that studying the hobby you are about to embark on will lead to good things. The problem is that I have found so many growing techniques that my brain is about to explode. A little help please...
I have a W9'xL20'xD8' room, in the process of construction, that I would like to utilize. The two largest decisions that have been holding me back from putting a pen to paper on these plans are:
1) grow technique (eg: ScrOG, topping, LST(low stress training), I presently believe that SoG is too much to deal with on a first grow.
2) I am deciding whether I would like to grow multiple strains at the same time so that I may have multiple strains to smoke after cured. *My reasoning behind multiple strains as my first grow is that I have never been to all these wonderful strains and never had anyone hand me an indica/sativa hybrid or a pure indica or a pure sativa and say, "this is C99" or "this is Bubblegum#2, try this." I want to find out what I like and what I don't.
***I need optimal yield from plants (in regards to growing technique), optimal number of plants in space provided.
****HOW DO I NEGOTIATE SPACE AND TECHNIQUE TO PRODUCE THE LARGEST YIELD POSSIBLE (excluding the decision of strain at this present moment)
Hope I got my thoughts out there in a logical manner. Let me know if I didn't make sense above.el chupanebre Reviewed by el chupanebre on . so many choices I have been doing my research before I start a grow. LST is no hassle, and a good way of learning the feel of the plants. I agree that SOG and scrog are too much hassle the first time around, especially if you're growing from seed and even more especially if you're groing different strains, because those techniques prefer plants of a similiar size (e.g. clones)
Go for LST with different strains if you want, and take clones from the ones that are best in veg.
Keep them alive until you can see which ones do best in flowering.

thanks to both of you. I think that keeping it simple for the first time is a good idea.

In a room like that, I would just have 8-10 biggn's. Start em in 1gal for a few weeks...Move to 3 gal for 2-3 weeks...Go to 5 gal, and switch to 12/12. BOOM monster easy plants. I wouldn't worry about SOG, LST, SCROG, LMNOP...none of it. If your just starting out and gotta room like that. Let em GROW!!! earn a little, have fun...Big ass plants are alot more forgiving too...Theres my :twocents:
