Humans suck

Okay.

So, I've heard alot of stuff about how 'humans are a desease', and that 'we are raping our planet', and that people 'are in it for the most that they can get out of it - and fuck everyone else'....

I agree to most of that.

BUT

What do we do about it?
Just sit back in our comfy chairs and watch hte world and it's people crumble around us?
Say nothing, do nothing, and wait for the day when we can all shout out "I TOLD YOU SO!"?

Nothing matters?

Is life not about progression?
If we continually sit back and watch, then the inevitable WILL happen, and all the horror stories of the future will come to pass.

Instead of rubbishing the way of the world, isn't it time that we use our brains in a more constructive way?

The biggest problem that this world has is RELIGION.
I'm sorry to offend religious folk (especially at this time of year), but the fact remains - the human race is being denied it's next logical evolutionary process because of the out-dated views of a few power-hungry people who use religion as a means of thought control and subdugation. I see it everywhere I look.

Show me a religion that doesn't demand the parting of personal wealth.
Show me a diety that cares for its creations.
Show me the God that they harp on about, and have been harping on about for the last 3000years.

The second biggest problem that this world has is money.
I'm sorry to offend the rich folk (especially at this time of year), but human suffering, poverty, misdistribution of wealth is the cause of MOST of the worlds crime and depravation issues.

Show me a system where we can all live as equals.
Show me a way to negate the 'need' for money and wealth, and subsequent power.

When humankind learns to realise that we are all equal, and that we can all coerse in a way that is mutually beneficial, then we will begin to see that life is a beautiful thing.

The internet is the beginning of shared knowledge and understanding.
But not everyone has access to it.

Class systems segregate one from another, and this causes resentment that otherwise would not be there.
Even now, in the year 2004, we still have racial inequallity, third-world states, and deseases that are left untreated because of the greed of pharmecutical companies and governments.

Yups, when you really get down to it, the human race is a pathetic example of intelligence.

But how do we change it?

I think the reason humans are so horrible is religion.

Has anyone here ever heard of Transhumanism. It is an athistic belife that humans can achive great things though technology. One of the primary things they want to achive is increased longevity. I hope that scientists are successful and I live at least a few hundred years before I am no more.

i totaly agree with a lot of what has been said here. i often fell bad within myself because of the things that i do daily. i guess that i'm just not a strong enough person to live outside of the conventions of society. i think 'problems' are just a perception of what it right and wrong, but us humans have created these for a reason, a feeling deep down of what 'right' and 'wrong'. at a most base level we are animals. just flesh and bone. it depresses me to think that there isn't anything we can really achieve in our lives. the universe will continue, we will die. so lets drown our sorrows.

Haven't heard of that, but I'm quite a fan of objectiveism (ever read anything by Ayn Rand?)... Only problem I have with it is the way it stresses reason it has to reject religion as religion is irrational... Well I don't reject religion.
